My P.C. says my audio device is being used by another pgm, and I need to close it! How to find and close it?

When I try to call someone on yahoo, a message says “The call could not be completed. Your computer’s audio equipment (your microphone and speakers) are being used by another program. Please close that program, and then try again.” How do I fix this? I don’t know what program to look for let alone close! Help!
